CROCKPOT RECIPE OF THE WEEKTANGY CROCK POT POT ROAST

* 1 beef chuck roast
* 1 packet onion soup mix
* 1 can (14 oz.) cranberry sauce, jelly or whole berry
* 1-2 Tablespoons cornstarch

Combine all ingriedients (except cornstarch) in crock-pot, cover, and cook on low for 5-6 hours, turning once. Remove roast from crockpot just before serving, and set aside on plate.

In a small mixing bowl, whisk about 1 1/2 cups of gravy from crockpot with 1-2 Tablespoons of cornstarch to thicken gravy.

Pour back into crock-pot, and place roast back in to simmer for a few minutes, making sure there are no lumps in the gravy.

Notes: This is a great recipes for leftovers, they get better the longer they sit!

I serve this with garlic mashed potatoes and salad.

* Do not add any additional liquid, as the roast will make it's own gravy.

* If using whole berry cranberry sauce, you can mash some of the berries when mixing in the cornstarch.

Crockpot History

Crock Pot® is the registered trademark of Rival. However it has become the generic name for all cookers of this type. Crockpots are also called slow cookers. In late 1970, Rival acquired the assets of another company, including an appliance called the 'Beanery'. It was a basic bean cooker. Cooks and chefs started to experiment with this little bean cooker. Soon they discovered that it cooked meat even better than beans...and the Rival Crock Pot® was born.
